Amazon is committed to ensuring age-restricted items are delivered to recipients over 18 years old.
In the UK, it is illegal to sell age-restricted products, such as alcohol or knives, to anyone under the age of 18. These deliveries are called ‘Age-Verified Deliveries’. Amazon takes its responsibility in relation to the sale and delivery of age-restricted items seriously and follows all regulations.

Steps to successfully make an Age-Verified Delivery
Amazon Flex UK follows the UK age verification policy. All delivery partners are required to ask for ID when delivering age-restricted items if the recipient is under 25 or appears to be under 25.
1. Ask for year of birth
If the app notifies you that the package / item is an Age-Verified Delivery, ask the recipient for their year of birth and enter it into the Amazon Flex app.
2. Request valid ID
If the app tells you the recipient is under 25 or they look under 25, you must request a valid ID to verify their age. Input the date into the app.

3. Wait for app confirmation to deliver
Wait for the app to confirm you can complete the delivery. Otherwise, you will need to return the item to the station at the end of your block or by 10am the next morning. You will still be paid in full for this block.

Valid forms of ID include:
• Government-issued ID card
• Passport
• Driving licence
• Ministry of Defence Form 90 card
Before entering the year of birth, you should confirm that the ID matches the person presenting it, and that the date of birth on the ID matches what the customer verbally stated.
Be sure to enter just the date of birth into the app, never scan or take a photo of the customer’s ID.

To help keep you safe, Amazon Flex offers Age-Verified Delivery lanyards to assist you when asking customers for ID. These are available at all Amazon Flex delivery stations.
Though uncommon, sometimes you may find yourself in a hostile situation where a customer refuses to present their identification for their Age-Verified Delivery. When facing a hostile customer consider the ‘Pause, Think, Act’ de-escalation technique. You can also show them the Age-Verified Delivery lanyard and card which contains Amazon’s policy on age-restricted items.
