Requirements to become a Delivery Driver with Amazon Flex

Amazon Flex
Requirements

What do you need to deliver with Amazon Flex?

To sign up to Amazon Flex, simply download the app on your iPhone or Android device. Then you can begin the registration process, which includes going through various steps to set up your account and passing a background check. Please note, you may be placed on a waiting list until we begin onboarding more delivery drivers. We tend to onboard more as we head into the busy summer and winter months and will send you an email as soon as we’re onboarding more delivery drivers in your area.

Once you have fully registered with Amazon Flex and are off the waiting list, simply open the app to see available delivery blocks in your area and find a time that suits you. As a self-employed delivery driver you will get paid by Amazon Flex via direct deposit once a week, which you can track in the Earnings section within the Amazon Flex app. To find out more about how and when you will be paid, visit our FAQs page.

Live in an area where Amazon Flex operates.

To find an Amazon Flex location near you, visit our Locations page to see the full list of regions, towns and cities with Amazon Flex depots. We regularly update the list of areas where we are onboarding more delivery drivers. These pick-up locations could be a delivery station, warehouse or a Morrisons or Co-op supermarket in the local area, where you will pick-up packages for delivery.

Don't see your area on the list? No problem! You can still download the app and create an account to let us know you're interested in becoming a delivery driver. You will be added to our waiting list in case an opportunity opens up near you.

Be 18 or older.

Have a valid UK driver’s licence and be entitled to work in the UK.

To create an account with Amazon Flex, you must have a valid, full, UK driver's licence and a valid UK National Insurance Number. You will also be asked to upload a Right to Work document(s). For the full list of accepted Right to Work document(s), please visit our FAQ page.

You will be prompted to upload each document in order, and in some cases you will need to upload a photo of the front and the back of the document. When uploading your documents, make sure the photos are clear and in focus to prevent them being rejected.

Have a mid-size vehicle with 5 seats or larger.

As a self-employed delivery driver, you will use a personal vehicle to deliver parcels in your local area. The vehicle you use to deliver with Amazon Flex needs to be a mid-size (or larger) car with capacity of 5 seats or more. Vehicles with fewer than 5 seats are not eligible to be used for deliveries, with the exception of vans and/or enclosed bed pickup trucks (in order to protect parcels from weather).

Your vehicle needs to have functioning headlights, rear lights, break lights and indicators. The windscreen and mirrors must not be cracked or damaged (windscreen cracks cannot be more than 10mm in the driver’s line of sight and 40mm outside of the driver’s line of sight). The tyres must have sufficient tread (>1.6mm) without cuts or budges. Additionally, your vehicle is required to have a valid licence plate that is not damaged, obscured or cracked with a valid MOT and taxed, as per https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-status.

Amazon has partnered with INSHUR and Zego to provide fast and easy quotes. You will be asked to upload a valid certificate of insurance document in the app. To find out more about insurance requirements, visit our FAQs page here.
